Mike, I agree, dude. You're doing the right thing, though, taking it easy and healing up your knee. It's a marathon for us, right? Think longterm... I'd rather be a purple belt at 75 years old still on the mats 2 or 3 times each week than a black belt at 45 and have to stop training.

And whatever conditioning routine you're on now is making a big difference.

Mike, thanks for the comment.

Regarding jitters, I do a lot of public speaking, so I guess I've learned to cope. One thing I can say, though, is to ignore some common advice given to people who are nervous about publis speaking. I recommend... strongly recommend... that you do not imagine your opponents in their underwear. That is... man... just don't do that. :)

Seriously, though, I'm wondering if maybe I need a little MORE nerves.

Steve,

I lost my first match much the same way. I was even up on points and blew it. I feel your pain and determination to learn from the experience.

Hey buddy,

Sounds like a tough match, but you kept your cool and I'm always impressed with your analysis. Congrats on what sounds like a great day for the school! I'll be up this XMas, and I'm definitely planning on swinging by.

Good read. Your attitude in the loss to your opponent speaks loudly as to your character and sense of honor as a bjj guy. Well done. Im eager to hear you share how you managed those pre-comp jitters. I found the night prior to be almost unbearable. Congrats to you and your teammates on a day well spent.
