Sunday and Tuesday Classes

Bing's been helping out with class, and it's shaken things up.
He's got all of these weird ideas.
Radical ideas. On Sunday, we did a light warm-up and then moved right into technique: a lapel choke from various positions.
We then played war, which is fun, and moved into sparring. The first position we worked on from the choke was from where you might find yourself if you've sprawled on an opponent's attempt at a double leg takedown.
I could also pull my opponent's head, as though I'm going for a standing guillotine, or work it from the knees, as well.
I find myself in this position relatively often, as a reversal that I tend to work often ends up with my opponent turtled up, and me with an over/under grip with my chest putting a lot of pressure on his shoulders.
  1. From here, I should have one arm reaching around his neck )we'll say Right) and the other under his arm.
  2. With my right hand, I'm going to get a fairly loose grip on his right lapel, 4 fingers in.
  3. If I go too deep on this, I'll end up blocking myself.
  4. Next, I'm going to shoot my left arm deep under his arm and up behind his head.
  5. I should be able to get it fairly deep.

  6. Then I will roll to my left all the way over to my right side, hiding my head under my opponent for two reasons.
  7. First, to avoid giving him any space.
  8. Second, to keep him from rolling on my head... ouch.
  9. As I roll, I'll shoot that left arm even deeper, ideally framing the back of his head with the back of my hand.
  10. To finish, I will turn my right wrist and pull that elbow back, while extending my left arm.

  11. I can also roll to my knees for extra leverage.
